Remembering a Titan

This is sad news. While Hollywood celebrates blockbuster returns of a carefully calculated superhero movie this weekend, I’ll be thinking about a different kind of industry giant who championed work at a smaller scale but was no less ambitious in his vision. The always entertaining, creatively excellent music videos, commercials and feature films that Steve Golin’s production company, Propaganda Films, put out in the 80’s & 90’s influenced me to pursue a career as a producer. His pivot to build a 360 content creation and talent management company, Anonymous, provided me with a model of a smarter and more strategic way to run a successful creative company in an era of platform disruption. His impeccable taste and willingness to put his weight behind risky, creatively ambitious projects helmed by iconoclastic directors will continue to inspire me to put it all on the line to do my part to advance innovative work and elevate talent with unique voices. He was one of the greats.
