The 1 Thing That Tells Me Facebook is an (Unstoppable)* Juggernaut
Despite a constant beatdown from the press, governments and the chattering class, FB remarkably managed to beat Wall Street's estimates during its Q4 earnings 2 weeks ago. Regardless of people's opinions about how it manages user data, addresses threats to democracy and is psychologically affecting young people, FB remains an undervalued stock that shows no evidence of decline.
So why do I think FB is "unstoppable"?
Is it because it's one half of a duopoly that controls ~63% of the digital ad spend and ~95% of digital video market share?
Is it because it offers the most robust and powerful ad tools for inexpensively and efficiently targeting customers on an insanely granular level?
Yes to both, but mainly, it's because the guy who literally wrote "the book" criticizing the company is using the platform to market it and promote sales! ⬇️
Love it or hate it, if you work in marketing or sales, you owe it to yourself to dig into FB's ad tools, run a few tests and learn how powerful it can be. Or just take a digital marketing course at General Assembly!
*Author’s Note: That's clickbait hyperbole. Nothing is unstoppable. It would violate the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics. Over time, all systems eventually breakdown. #ENTROPY
